For allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl, a 32-year-
old businessman, Kenneth Ekeh, was on Monday
brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court in
Lagos State.
Ekeh, who resides at No. 67 Demurin Street,
Alapere-Ketu, a Lagos suburb, is facing a charge of
child defilement.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Imhonwa, said the
accused had on July 7 at 1.00 p.m. defiled the girl
while she was playing in his compound.
He said the accused took advantage of the minor’s
innocence to defile her.
"He took advantage of the poor guardianship of the
child and did what he wanted to do with enough time.
Ekeh put his fingers into the child's private part and
inflicted pain on her," he said.
The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal
Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused denied the charge.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi,
granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with
two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties should have landed property in
Lagos State as part of the bail condition.
The case has been adjourned to September 7 for
trial
